#538: Weekly 2

October 16, 2025·28 min·5 clips
The host returns to the weekly part two after sending listeners back to part one. Part one introduced The Weekly and explained why she created it for coaching, self-management, self-care, and self-coaching. In this part, she stays with coaching and what she calls the exquisiteness of what it offers. Her main point is that optional unnecessary suffering is a major burden people carry. Life already includes joy and pain, and that mix is normal. People add another layer on top of it. That extra layer can wear them down emotionally. It can also keep them from achieving and evolving. It can hurt relationships if they let it run unchecked. She says reducing that unnecessary suffering is her mantra and her goal for humans. The work starts with thoughts. Many people never stop to examine what they think about. Because of that, they treat their thoughts as if they were observations of reality. They assume their thoughts are the truth. Coaching asks them to question those thoughts. Once that starts, some of their mental certainties begin to wobble. She uses "I'm not good at that" as the clearest example. When that thought gets repeated over and over, it creates a feeling of incapability. That feeling does not build capacity. It reduces it. A person who feels incapable is less likely to try. That person is less likely to put something new into the world. The same result then seems to confirm the original thought. Her answer is to become conscious of the thought itself. As a coach, she can point out thoughts that sound normal to the person saying them and are new to her. She says this still matters years into the work, because she herself needs another perspective to point out her own thoughts. The point is power over your own life in whatever degree you want it. She does not want to retire from teaching that. She wants to keep teaching it to everyone. The Weekly is her way to create a regular touch point for that teaching. She believes people need enough practice for the work to become effortless. She closes by inviting listeners to join her in January. She tells them to do a little of this or a lot of this for themselves. She gives the sign-up address at thelifecoachschool.com/weekly.
