LIV Golf South Africa Preview - Singapore Review - The League Itself Podcast

Richard T. Lee faced a putt to double his 15-year career earnings—and missed, handing Bryson a controversial win.
Singapore lands as the measuring stick. The first reaction is full fan whiplash: thrilling, messy, agonizing, disgusting, and still hard to beat. Sentosa gets the biggest flowers. They treat the course as the engine of the week, not scenery, and they doubt Louisiana or Korea can copy that feel. The possible schedule loss hurts. Since Singapore had not been renewed contractually heading into 2027, they hear the event as a peak product and maybe a missed chance. The players matter too. One host thinks the players would want the stop kept because they were all in on the course, the challenge, the conditioning, the setup, and the greens. Then the production cracks start to grate. Score bug errors, wrong-hole info, and the delayed Bryson winner graphic become the cleanest case that LIV still misses basic broadcast details. This is not random nitpicking. Their point is simple: with anybody in the final two groups and nine holes left, winner graphics should already be ready. The rules handling bugs them too. Brad Ullman letting players return just to blow the horn again gets folded into the same read on administrative sloppiness. Still, one call worked. When the playoff arrived, LIV went straight back to the 18th and kept the tension alive instead of parking everyone in clubhouse dead time. That contrast drives the review. The tournament looked elite, but the surrounding execution handed the PGA Tour an administrative comparison at the worst time. They give that credit reluctantly. If the PGA Tour looks cleaner administratively, it matters because LIV is trying to look better going forward. The ending turns inward, with a brief dark-horse pick tied to the unknown draw and a Duke caveat before the hosts thank subscribers and treat the YouTube response as part of what they have been building toward.

As heard by us

A Singapore recap that puts a strong course and a shaky broadcast side by side.

The episode treats Singapore as both a showcase and a mess. Sentosa comes off well, with praise for the course, the conditioning, and the greens, while the contract talk adds a bit of tension heading toward 2027. That part lands cleanly.
