LIV Golf Adelaide Preview & Riyadh Review - The League Itself Podcast - Episode 59

·1 hr 1 min·5 clips
Elvis Smiley shocks LIV Golf by winning his first event, but is he the next big star or just a flash in the pan?
Riyadh is barely in the rearview. The hosts start with the first of 14 LIV events finished, then head straight for Adelaide, which they treat as the season's loudest stop. The Grange drives the preview because the appeal is atmosphere as much as golf: a party crowd, a looser mood, and a different way for U.S. fans to watch. The banter has some self-awareness too. One host admits the party version of himself is mostly theoretical, which gives the preview a little grin before the show gets serious. Riyadh's broadcast becomes the thing on trial. Henny seems to be taking over Christian Crosby's role, and the hosts are not sold yet. Average at best is the working grade, with room left for her to learn the LIV product. The sharper frustration is the shape of the show. They want a U.S. pre- and post-show back, partly so the main broadcast stops carrying everything. Rachel Drummond's walk-and-talks also take heat because those segments, in their view, should sit picture-in-picture instead of pushing golf shots away. Then come the avoidable mistakes: Majestics spelled wrong, Four Aces shortened to Aces on some graphics, and an explainer that got the team and wild card setup wrong. To them, that is not nitpicking. It makes the league look less buttoned up than it should. Jerry Holtz on the course gets laughs for how it plays on screen, while Don Boulet's absence feels like a real loss. By the end, Adelaide is still the one to circle. For U.S. fans, primetime golf and Fox Sports app logistics matter, and Richard T. Lee plus Sebastian Munoz close things out as sheet-tracker picks.
