Daddy Wants His R.E.M.ing

April 14, 2026·1 hr 40 min·1 clip
They stopped paying for Spotify and found YouTube Music hidden inside YouTube Premium.
Spotify gets dropped before anything else. A messy music-app complaint opens the room, and YouTube Premium quietly turns out to have a whole Spotify-like setup built in already. That lands fast. The panel starts poking at ignored subscriptions, missing albums, and the annoying feeling of discovering the better option was sitting there the whole time. Then the rails go sideways. A game story takes over, following a ridiculous run where a ride lands on a Ferris wheel, hits water, and starts smashing satellites. It knows how silly it sounds. The fun is in the play-by-play: jump the bridge, get back on the wheel, miss the button, notice the thing you missed, try it again cleaner. The character chatter does some work too. Even without constant direct attacks, the banter gives the run enough personality to keep moving. The Sonic comparison makes sense. One pass teaches the route, the next one dares you to shave time or chase a better score, and every missed rail feels like a reason to go back. The controls sound busy in a good way. Jumping, slamming down, doing tricks, and dashing across rails create speed without making every mistake feel final. The closer turns back on the podcast itself. They hit the awkward comedy of asking someone to try a podcast, then realizing that audio can sound like homework next to watching something. Nobody wants camera obligations. The joke about pants, work clothes, and looking rough keeps the signoff loose and unpolished. Subscription gripes, game mechanics, and podcast self-mockery all end up in the same friendly pile.

The episode starts with a small, relatable annoyance and turns it into an easy bit: paying for YouTube Premium for years without realizing YouTube Music was already there, and finding out it is the cleaner place to track down songs that streaming services miss.
