The Falcon - The Case Of The Bellicose Boxer

March 16, 2026·25 min·2 clips
Vincent offers Freddy Lane a hundred grand to take a dive in the championship fight.
Freddy Lane has a big mouth. The gym gives him the build of a champ and the manners of a man waving trouble closer. Steve, his manager, is already rattled. Freddy needles him anyway, and that shower-room sparring makes the corner feel cracked before the murder even lands. Then Lane is dead. Corbett points the heat at Steve Douglas because Steve visited Mike at 3 a.m., left at 5, and cannot say where he was afterward. Thin soup, and Mike knows it. He pushes back with the missing girl, the elevator boy, and a promise that Corbett can hardly do worse. The case keeps swinging. Fifteen rushed minutes to the airport, papers, and Steve's missing alibi turn every answer into another shove. Steve looks beaten. Mike still backs him while Corbett cracks about a date at Sing Sing later. The missing woman matters. A girl in Lane's apartment is the loose button on the whole coat because nobody has her yet. $1,700 says plenty. Cash left behind makes the thief story stink, since Mike has never met a burglar that polite. Ace's payoff changes shape. By the last beat, money, murder, and fight talk point to a debt settled with bullets instead of bills. Angel gets the last jab. Mike is useful in a rough corner, she admits, then she walks off because one fighter is enough for a lifetime.
