The Derek Hunter Show · WMAL | CMLS Washington DC

Hour 2 March 17th, 2026

·35 min·2 clips
Carrie Prejean says Trump has “betrayed our country” and that “MAGA is dead.”
The hour opens with the show on WMAL and jumps straight into the day's news. Hunter says the Israeli military has killed senior Iranian leadership figures and treats the strikes as part of the broader fight against the regime. He spends time on the names and where they sit in Iran's power structure. Qasem Soleimani comes up as the reference point. Ali Larijani is described as an internal enforcer with real pull at the top. From there, Hunter keeps moving instead of settling in. He says some of the people he is talking about may never speak to him again, and he does not seem bothered. A Candace Owens clip is next. He says he does not understand why anyone would support her and calls her coverage of Charlie Kirk's legacy disgusting and self-serving. In his view, she is trying to claim Kirk for her own purposes, and that lands badly for him. The conversation then widens into a harsher argument about the country and the war in the Middle East. Hunter says the United States is in a war it cannot win. He ties that to bad advice, bad loyalties, and a political class that keeps elevating the wrong voices. He also mocks the White House's social media style as fake and childish. Donald Trump comes up again when Hunter says he has let Mark Levin's circle go after Tucker Carlson. Carlson's claim that the CIA has been spying on him becomes, in Hunter's telling, another sign that the country is drifting toward civil-war territory. He blames that drift on warnings people ignored, especially the ones he connects to Charlie Kirk. Later he returns to the way people offer sympathy in ways that feel empty or selective. The hour ends with a traffic-center handoff after one more jab at institutional wording that he thinks says more than it should.
