20: Gregory

September 5, 2025·40 min·2 clips
Gregory explains that the concentrics is a 'literal virus' — no one runs it, no money changes hands, it spreads purely on human curiosity and worry about missing loved ones, self-sustaining on 'viable hosts.'
The stairs make the house feel like a different place. Below, Eva is still in her chair. Upstairs, the narrator walks into a cleaner, stranger order. A bathroom looks new, the bedroom is almost too neat, and cabinets cover the walls with drawers labeled by single words. Even the books follow rules, sorted by color and shade. It does not feel safe. It feels arranged. The whiteboard gives the room away. Meals repeat each week, exercise has its slot, finances are mapped, and the neatness starts to explain the mess downstairs. Order has not fixed Gregory. It has given the sickness somewhere to sit, a set of labels, and a way to make damage look planned. Then the conversation tightens. Gregory describes a virus that moves through worry, using fear for missing loved ones as its carrier. Someone disappears, leaves a note that feels wrong, and the people who care most begin walking the same destructive path. He calls it elegant. The narrator hears pain, confusion, and a man so alone that people have become material for an experiment. DECA stays in the room, too. Gregory says they may not want to stop him, because his chaos gives them criminals, targets, and something to manage. None of that eases the pressure. It gets worse when he asks who the narrator was looking for, and the answer is only a daughter.

As heard by us

A meticulous room gives a chilling theory about worry more bite.

It starts with a room that feels too neat to trust. Gregory's space is all labeled drawers, shade-sorted books, a meal plan, an exercise routine, a financial portfolio, and that unreadable block of code or equations.
