MARCH 18, 2026 Travel Weekly article on luxury cruising gets it all wrong!

·40 min·2 clips
Terry West’s Travel Weekly article says luxury cruise brands are chasing younger affluent guests with yachts and fast Wi‑Fi.
It starts with roses and a rant. The host opens the morning at 7:02 a.m., talks to Walls, says he is glad they behaved the day before, and makes a point of not being hungover. The day is already full. He mentions a Zoom meeting with his writer in Dubai, jokes that the setup sounds fancy, and then turns to the plain work ahead: lunch at 1871 in Kissimmee and a stop at The Breeze. Courtney gets a mention. He likes the bartender, likes the lunch, and then complains about the local watering hole being expensive, which is the kind of petty detail he uses to open into something bigger. Then he swings hard. The monologue moves into a long political stretch about Iran, hostage-taking, proxies, retaliation, and what he sees as the memory problem in public debate, with AI tools mentioned as a quick way to dig through the history. He names names. ChatGPT and Grok come up as examples of the sort of fast compilation tool he wants listeners to try, and he tells people to ask for the numbers instead of arguing from memory. The tone gets grave. He cites Netanyahu, Gaza, Hezbollah, and the targeting of civilians as he sees it, then keeps going in the same breathless, self-correcting rhythm that drives the whole show. He knows he has wandered. After calling the stretch a mess and saying he cheered himself up with it, he tries to steer back toward the show’s cruise purpose and asks whether it is time for the cruise of the day. It is. A legendary cruise segment lands next, delivered with the same no-frills enthusiasm and side-eye that run through the rest of the episode. He stays late. Near the end he thanks listeners for the likes, links, and shares, apologizes for running long, jokes that he has lost the room, and still manages to push Best in Sea Tours and the cruise list by email. The goodbye is unruly. He finishes by telling himself to wake up, get the hell out, and go, which is about as tidy as this show ever wants to be.

As heard by us

A loose travel monologue that turns a busy morning into a personable dispatch.

The episode starts with a sponsor read, then settles into a 7:02 a.m. check-in, a reminder about the day before, lunch in Kissimmee, a Zoom with a writer in Dubai, and the kind of everyday detail that gives the show its travel-radio feel.
