David Roy Newby - King Solomon, Digital Assets and the Future of Financial Freedom

·46 min·10 clips
Rob opens with David Roy Newby, a family and business legacy coach to entrepreneurs and investors, founder of goldpluscoin.com, and author of multiple books, including his latest number one bestseller, Beyond Billions. Newby says his work is built around helping clients use King Solomon's wisdom in practical ways. He ties that idea to Solomon's enterprises and says the fortune would equal roughly $4 trillion in today's cash. Rob frames the discussion around gold and Bitcoin, then asks why Solomon still matters now. Newby answers by tracing a life spent moving 47 times across six states, Alaska, and the Philippines. That kind of exposure, he says, taught him to ask people what they believe and why they believe it. He says that habit carried him into conversations with people from many different backgrounds. From there he turns to sound money, freedom, and the contrarian instinct to ask questions most people skip. He argues that gold has been the one consistent money over the last 4,000 years, while copper, silver, flowers, and other things have also served as money at different times. He points to the U.S. Constitution's gold and silver language as part of that lineage. He lays out five qualities of money and says gold fits them because it is finite, portable, tangible, and divisible. Bitcoin, he says, meets the same tests except for tangibility. The mining equipment doing the calculations is physical, but he still does not call Bitcoin digital gold. Instead, he says it is about 90 percent like gold. He rejects either-or thinking and says the better frame is to hold both. To make the point concrete, he sketches a Book of Eli scenario in which nukes hit and the electric grid goes down. In that world, he says, silver coins and gold coins would likely return as barter, while Bitcoin would lose much of its use. He also cites the 2004 Detroit blackout, when the grid went down for about 11 days, as a reminder that grid failures are not just movie logic. The close turns to privacy, where he says he will not use TikTok, prefers LinkedIn, X, Facebook, and Instagram, and notes that Gold Plus Coin is on X and LinkedIn as well.
