The Cellar Letters · Jamie Petronis

Series Premiere - [REDACTED]

November 9, 2025·20 min·2 clips
Jacob's twin brother Jordan reappears after years, only to be run over by thugs in a cemetery confrontation.
The episode opens with a cold open: Jacob performing an improvised emotional monologue about watching his father die in a car crash (no seatbelt, rain on the road), delivered with genuine anguish. The audition panel then reveals he did not use the sides they sent. Jacob defends his choices as artistic integrity; the writer in the room is understandably unhappy. Jacob is told the script is locked and asked to start again with the written lines. The scene shifts to a diner where Jacob's friend Eli challenges him on the audition choices and his lifestyle more broadly. Jacob is eating a single egg because he is broke; Eli, who works in supply chain management, picks up the tab and gently nags Jacob about getting a day job. The conversation reveals Jacob's mother died a week ago, his estranged twin brother Jordan has not appeared or made contact, and Jacob sometimes pretended to be Jordan for their confused, dying mother to give her comfort. While at the diner Jacob receives a call from his landlord Phil, who is at the apartment about to change the locks over three months of unpaid rent. Jacob rushes over, apologizes, and negotiates a two-week extension. He visits his mother's grave that evening, alone in bad weather, delivering a private monologue about failure. He recounts the audition loss, the landlord, and his best career credit still being a single line in a car insurance commercial. He admits to his mother that he wonders if this struggle is just his life now. At the cemetery he notices Jordan sitting in a car. He confronts him, demanding to know where he has been and describing their mother's final weeks calling out for Jordan. Jordan apologizes. Before they can go further, two men appear who seem to know Jordan and are clearly a threat. Jordan tells Jacob to keep his face down and not give his name; the men are working for someone named Hargrove. Jordan runs one of the men over with the car and speeds off with Jacob. He hands Jacob cash from under the seat and says he needs to drop him somewhere far away. A second vehicle causes another crash; Jordan is badly injured and trapped. Jacob breaks the window with Jordan's briefcase and tries to free him while pleading with him to stay awake. The episode ends with Jacob in an ambulance, injured and confused, unable to recall his own name when the paramedic asks. The cast includes Jamie Petronas as Jacob Kane, Nathan Lunsford from The Storage Papers as Jordan Kane, Harlan Guthrie from Malevolent as one of the thugs, and Jeffrey Reddick from Final Destination as the anxious screenwriter.

As heard by us

A strange, funny premiere that turns grief, rent trouble, and performance anxiety into dread.

The Cellar Letters starts in an uneasy place and keeps pulling that unease tighter. Jamie's apology for the delayed season gives way to Jacob Caine dealing with a family death call, pushing back on what he is given and trying to keep his life from sliding out from under him.
