A demanding first week for Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro

March 27, 2026·30 min·2 clips
Daryl Hannah describes Harvey Weinstein bursting into her hotel room at 2am during the Kill Bill press tour.
The program opens with Coastal. Kim Masters revisits Daryl Hannah's story of following Neil Young on his 2023 solo tour while trying to film performances that refused to sit still in advance. The camera problem was not abstract. Hannah says Young often did not know what he would play until he was already on stage, so the crew had to guess, adjust, and keep up. A guitar-tech exchange captures the whole thing. Asked whether a guitar should be tuned for a song, Young says the moment will reveal itself, and Hannah treats that uncertainty as the work. The conversation then widens. Masters notes Hannah's recent attention for a New York Times opinion piece denouncing her portrayal in Ryan Murphy's Love Story. From there, the tone gets heavier fast. Hannah and Masters move from career and craft into accusations, job losses, and the thin limits of accountability in entertainment. Hannah is direct about her discomfort. She says several men lost jobs, then points to an alleged serial rapist with many accusers who, in her telling, avoided jail and saw one arrest fall apart despite strong evidence. Their exchange lands on Harvey Weinstein, Kill Bill, and Hannah's point that she was not a young actor chasing access or approval. That distinction matters to her. She describes being a successful forty-year-old woman who wanted distance from him. The room story is hard to shake. Hannah recalls an encounter during the press tour, after mostly avoiding him during the movie's making. Masters keeps it plain. The close returns to Coastal, with Hannah describing audiences moved by Young's support for a small country trying to save itself before the customary credits.

As heard by us

A pointed Hollywood interview about Daryl Hanna, Coastal, Weinstein, and the politics of reputation.

KCRW's The Business turns a return visit with Daryl Hanna into a sharper Hollywood interview than the episode title suggests. The cleanest thread is Coastal, her Neil Young concert film, and the practical gamble of filming a performer who may not know the set until he is…
