Ezra Firestone - How To Grow Amazon, Shopify, And Paid Media Simultaneously

December 2, 2019·23 min·2 clips
Ezra Firestone reveals why sending Facebook and Google traffic to Amazon—even with poor conversion—is the ultimate ranking secret.
Amazon is useful cash flow. Ezra frames it as the channel that can get a business moving, but not the whole asset. That difference matters. He says an Amazon-only brand can be worth one tenth to one third of a brand with a footprint elsewhere. Start by getting Amazon right: improve the listing, run sponsored ads, lift ranking, secure brand registry, and strengthen product detail pages with video. Then bring in outside traffic. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Google can all send attention back to Amazon, even when the traffic does not convert perfectly. Amazon notices that demand and tends to reward it. The goal is not to leave the marketplace too soon. It is to use marketplace cash flow to build assets the seller controls. Ezra suggests starting with 10 to 20% of Amazon money and putting it into paid amplification that captures email subscribers, messenger subscribers, SMS subscribers, and pixel audiences. A normal Amazon brand gets the sale, but Amazon owns the customer, controls the listing, and leaves the seller exposed to copycats and attacks. Build the audience anyway. Once those off-Amazon assets exist, the brand is worth more than a plain Amazon brand. Shopify, or another direct site, comes later. The sequence is the point: Amazon first, outside traffic second, then a direct site that can grow into the bigger business.
