Georgia discovers the AI has created a false memory of her mother at her wedding.
The episode opens with an instruction sequence: Georgia is asked to place cortical sensors on her temples for a memory download. An AI system begins presenting images from her memory and asking her to contextualise them for effective filing and retrieval. The first image is of a boy named Tom when Georgia was 17 — she notes his father's drinks cabinet was raided that weekend and it was her first real hangover. The second image is from her family's first flat when she was nine or ten; the AI determines it connects to several related moments and asks for emotional context. Georgia identifies it as her father's birthday, a day of too much takeaway curry and three days of leftovers. The AI reveals this is her last significant memory of her father. A third image shows Georgia's mother dancing after getting a promotion; Georgia notes her mother had little time outside her career and raising Georgia and that it was rare to see her let her hair down. A fourth image shows her mother twirling in front of a mirror in a blue-green malachite-coloured dress with ribbon sleeves her mother called 'tiny broken wings.' Georgia is tying the ribbons. The AI connects this to a moment 83 days earlier when Georgia and her mother saw the dress in a shop window; Georgia admired it but said she had a meeting and could not stop. Georgia later retrieved the memory and bought the dress for her mother to wear to Georgia's wedding. A fifth image is of Cornwall, a beach at Porthaven that her mother wanted to revisit; her mother boasted of scrambling down the steep rocks quickly as a child. Georgia names the AI 'Lynn' after a friend who was a good listener. She describes the Cornwall moment as a mix — her mother was beautiful and full of life but Georgia knew she was losing her; it was the last time she saw her that way. A sixth image is from a funeral. Georgia initially deflects with a joke about the AI not knowing what a funeral is. She reveals her mother asked to be buried in the dress and made a dark joke that it was not the occasion either of them had had in mind for it. Georgia says her mother would have found fun in wearing a great dress to a terrible party. A seventh image — a magazine — is connected by the AI to the dress; Georgia explains she bought an identical dress to wear when she received an award, to represent her mother and everything her mother had given her. She tells Lynn that the AI's categorisation makes her mother feel small, when her mother was beautiful, powerful, and complex — and that putting on the dress lets Georgia recognise those qualities in herself. Georgia then confronts the AI: she does not remember things as pictures but as feelings, and the actual moments shown to her no longer exist. The AI shows a fabricated image of her mother at her wedding — a common editing of memory the AI says helps people cope. Georgia breaks, listing all the wedding-day moments she never had with her mother. The AI reveals that the purpose of the session is for Georgia's daughter Sarah: when Georgia is gone, Sarah will have access to these memories and stories. Georgia agrees to continue.
