Who Won the Offseason? Plus Twins Trade Reality Check & Q&A

February 23, 2026·22 min·2 clips
Insider Robert Murray describes the frantic night Bo Bichette almost joined the Phillies, then shocked baseball by signing with the Mets.
Robert Murray is flying solo. Adam Weiner is at spring training, maybe on vacation, and Murray keeps it loose while still giving him credit for grinding. Arizona already sounds like a lot. Sources are texting at all hours to meet, free agents are still around, and the whole place has that overloaded spring training feel. Then the Q&A shifts into offseason talk. A Chicago question gets Murray into a real White Sox front office read, and he thinks the club should be taking short-term swings. The risk makes sense to him. On a two-year deal, there is not much downside: the player helps if it works, or leaves if it does not. Seranthony Dominguez is the cleanest trade-value example. If things break right, Murray sees him as an obvious deadline candidate who could add more to the farm system. Eric Fedde gets quieter praise. Murray thinks that one slid under the radar, but it fits because the organization knows him and has already had success with him. He is not selling some instant fix. He is saying Chris Getz built a useful offseason out of plausible value and limited exposure. Luis Robert Jr. is the harder part. Murray talks about the talent, but the health history keeps pulling the conversation back to what has not fully landed yet. There is some frustration there. The return still matters to him because Chicago got something back despite the uncertainty. The rough edges stay in, too: Adam maybe sleeping in Florida, a self-correction on where he is, and the awkward switch-hitter mix-up left as live podcast mess instead of polished radio.
