A Marine's best friend dies saving him in Vietnam, sparking a lifetime of guilt that nearly destroys him.
As heard by us
A war story becomes a grace argument grounded in concrete detail and a sharp anchorman metaphor.
The episode braids a Vietnam rescue story into a meditation on grace. Two Marines from the Boston area, friends in Vietnam, are crossing a stream near Khe Sanh when a mortars strap snaps; one turns back to help as the other fights to keep the pack dry.
Why you'd press play
A wartime shoulder-the-load rescue becomes a grace argument with real emotional weight.
