Texas Rangers - Cold Blood

March 15, 2026·28 min·2 clips
Rangers Pearson and Morgan ride out of the swamp with their prisoner and face down eight armed men blocking the path.
The broadcast opens at the network seam. Phil Harris and Alice Faye pitch the evening's NBC lineup, then the Ranger story takes over. The case tightens quickly. Nellie begs the Ranger to protect Eli, who is hiding in Old Markleford's Shack in the swamp. Her fear lands. She says Dean beat Eli after accusing him of killing Mrs. Dean, which gives the Ranger a detail Dean left out. Jase works the evidence without drama. No skin under the dead woman's fingernails makes a struggle with Eli less likely than the local story claims. Dean is the problem. If he saw Eli after the murder, his silence matters more than the beating. The search moves to horseback. The sheriff is gone, the deputy gives directions, and the men ride toward the swamp by Three Oaks and the Willow. The ground is against them. The shack sits about 100 yards in, away from town but close enough for men to reach. Trouble is already moving. The Ranger hears others are after Eli and reads it as Dean ignoring his warning. Nellie's story starts to matter. It may not clear Eli on its own, but it gives the Ranger a way through panic and rumor. The ending is grim and procedural. Ralph Dean confesses to killing his wife after a violent quarrel over money, and the attempted lynching ends with jail terms for seven men.

As heard by us

A swamp murder case turns on patient deduction and a late piece of forensic proof.

Cold Blood is vintage radio crime built on a swamp search, a frightened witness, and a murder accusation that keeps tightening as Jace Pearson checks each claim against the evidence.
