The episode opens with host Laurie Boyer introducing the daily format covering commodity markets, weather, and agriculture news. Grain markets posted solid gains on Wednesday, led by a double-digit rally in soybeans, with corn and wheat also finishing higher. Corn closed up for the fifth time in the past six sessions, while wheat showed technical strength that could shift market sentiment. With USDA offices closed, no government reports are expected, leaving row crop bulls looking to build on Wednesday's strong finish. Red meat production dropped 7% year-over-year in November to 4.26 billion pounds, down from 4.89 billion pounds in October. Beef production dropped 9% annually to 2.02 billion pounds as cattle slaughter declined 11% to 2.27 million head, though liveweights increased. Pork output fell 4% to 2.23 billion pounds with hog slaughter down 5% to 10.3 million head, while veal production plunged 40%. From January through November, commercial red meat production was down 3% annually to 48.9 billion pounds. On livestock markets, cash activity for cattle continued with southern cattle trading $1 higher and northern dress $2 higher on Wednesday. Choice boxed beef declined $1.84 and select dropped $3.84, creating potential market pressure. Winter weather advisories have been issued for parts of northern Minnesota and Wisconsin, with mixed precipitation including snow and ice expected. Northern Wisconsin could see up to four inches of snow with ice, while Michigan's Upper Peninsula expects two to four inches of snow. The National Weather Service warns of icy roads possible for a few hours this morning that may impact travel. The market check shows corn, soybeans, and soybean meal trading higher on the Chicago Board of Trade, while soybean oil trades lower. Kansas City wheat trades lower but spring wheat is higher, and on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live cattle and feeder cattle are higher with lean hogs lower. Crude oil is lower while gold and silver trade higher, and the Dow Jones is trading lower on Wall Street.
