Sterling -- 11/7/25

·1 hr 23 min·5 clips
The new Predator movie flips the script by making the alien hunter the protagonist, not the villain.
Fog hangs over the start. Sterling begins with the Friday-night basics: Bearcats basketball, Xavier winning, high school playoff action, and a direct plea to stop using high beams in thick weather. The sports frame stays local. Cincinnati beats Georgia State 74-64, stays unbeaten, and gets Dayton next at Fifth Third Arena on Tuesday night. Then the show swerves. A guest segment wraps with Silver Gecko on Substack, a Predator Badlands mention, and a warning about black mold inside an old jack-o'-lantern. The reset feels like live radio because it is. Station IDs, updates, and scores keep cutting in before Sterling gets to the caller question: where have you seen a brawl? Not the downtown and OTR kind that makes national news, but the odd regular-life place where a full fight suddenly breaks out. His example is small and weird enough to stick. As a teenager working at Grocery Barn, a store with barn aesthetics but no actual barn, he saw a two-man aisle fight that he still calls traumatizing and funny. That memory becomes the hook. The episode is not really about violence. It is about how fast normal public spaces can get loud, strange, and hard to control. A closing caller pushes the conversation toward lines, judgment, and what goes too far when someone tapes a kid and puts him in the back of a car. Sterling does not tidy it up. He calls the line subjective, then still says taping a kid by hands and foot is probably across it. The show keeps moving through news, Red Eye Radio, tomorrow's topics, SNAP and hunger, space, Bengals coverage, and more Bearcats. It is messy because the broadcast is messy: sports, fog, movie talk, memory, and caller morality all bumping into each other until the real question becomes how people decide when chaos has crossed the line.
