Falkville Metal Man with Jokester Joe

November 27, 2025·45 min·3 clips
Police chief Jeff Greenhaw photographed a metallic being that ran faster than his car, leading to his resignation and stolen evidence.
The Metal Man arrives sideways. A quick check-in with Joseph M. Leonard turns into author-site cleanup, Amazon jokes, and the host trying to say Falkville without stumbling over it. Nobody stays solemn for long. The case centers on Greenhaw, a police chief whose strange encounter and Polaroid photos drew UFO attention, national media, and community ridicule. The evidence never quite settles. Reports that the original pictures were later stolen give the story one more trapdoor, and the show clearly enjoys poking at it. Then Mothman barges in. The timing gets loosely compared to Mothman-era weirdness, with the Three Rivers Bridge mentioned before everyone veers into The Mothman Prophecies. A DVD shelf becomes evidence. Laura Linney gets name-checked, the movie gets praised, and the paranormal case has to make room for home viewing plans. Signs takes over without asking. Joseph frames it around grief, lost faith, and meaning, while his sister apparently keeps it filed under alien movie. That disagreement gets its own runway. The host and guest keep circling the gap between aliens on screen and what the story is actually doing. By the end, commerce intrudes. Joseph plugs Is ET Really Here, calls it a really short story, and explains the 99-cent Amazon floor with tired amusement. The riff keeps climbing anyway. Amazon becomes a 99-cent store, then almost a 99-dollar store, because the bit wants another turn before the music hits. The paranormal never gets pinned down. That's the appeal: a bewildered lawman, a mocked reputation, missing photos, and two people cheerfully refusing to leave any tangent alone.

As heard by us

A strange-history chat where the mystery stays odd and the human fallout stays in view.

This episode treats the Falkville Metal Man story as more than a roadside oddity. It keeps coming back to what followed the sighting: the attention, the mockery, the fatigue, and the sense that the matter never quite settled into an easy answer.
