A Fire Sale on Apples

July 18, 2025·1 hr 27 min·7 clips
A pomegranate vendor turned assassin reveals his tragic origin story, complete with stick-figure tattoos and a breakup caused by revenge obsession.
The recap sings first. Tuck, Fingers, and Billy arrive as brave, messy friends whose loyalty is usually a few steps ahead of their judgment. Sean sets the table, but the fantasy-ballad tone barely survives contact with the actual table. Abdul's huge Red Bull becomes the first swerve, and the group jumps straight from welcome chatter into worry, fake confidence, and one very odd dactyl question. Then the city comes into focus. Hither and Yon has left the party in a fancy district, and the problem is blunt. They have no money. Six coins already went into sandwiches, so clothes, disguise, and palace access all get harder at once. Before heading toward the palace, they decide they need to understand the city and maybe stop looking so out of place. A big roll sends them into a tailor's district packed with suits, dresses, hats, haberdashery, shoppers, bags, and masquerade prep. It is exactly what they need, priced exactly wrong. Billy starts plotting. Stealing someone's shopping bag is on the table. So is making a public appeal for charity. Tuck makes it better, because his size turns most local clothing into an immediate joke, and the table spends just long enough on how badly everything fits. The clip keeps moving while mechanics, lore, character logic, and quick side-riffs pile up around the masquerade problem. The closing ad jumps to another long-running Dungeons & Dragons podcast, with a captain's log about a crashed flying Birdbath Mansion, suspicious adventurers, and empty ancient kitchens.

As heard by us

Broke adventurers, fancy clothes, and one very tempting masquerade district make for a loose, funny Spout Lore detour.

Spout Lore's A Fire Sale on Apples drops Tuck, Fingers, and Billy into the kind of trouble actual-play shows handle best: no cash, wrong clothes, and a rich district already fussing over tomorrow night's masquerade. The setup is small, but that is the charm.
