Hustle (2022) - Spoilers! Deep Dive Part 5 #555

·1 hr 37 min·5 clips
Josh describes working in college sports video and editing before realizing the job was a rough world for him.
It begins mid-countdown. Before anyone gets cleanly to Hustle, the panel is already acting out draft eligibility, birth certificates, and Bo Cruz's messy paperwork. Beaubon, somehow, wanders in too. The bit runs through John Wick riffing, friendship math, and another sideways checkpoint in the show's long Sandler run. Then somebody finally drags it back toward basketball. The best stretch is about Adam Sandler's character as a guy with resources, but not enough cushion to make failure painless. He can cover rooms and travel, sure. The money still feels like it is leaving an actual life. Bo is not magic yet, and the room keeps needling the movie on that point. His talent is there, but immaturity and pressure keep showing up in small, familiar ways. They joke around the edges. A scouting clip, an injury reaction, and a stern warning not to root for injuries all get folded into the recap, which feels very Spoilers. The conversation keeps circling the same messy challenge: is Bo ready, is Sandler seeing him clearly, and is hustle enough by itself? Bo hustles for side money. Sandler hustles harder by putting his cash and pride behind one prospect. The panel seems to like that tension. Hustle ends up feeling less like inevitable greatness and more like belief getting expensive before anyone knows if it was right. Then the credits energy takes over. Patreon names, podcast plugs, upload chatter, old Mikey skid jokes, and tired goodbyes make the ending feel like a hangout that happened to include a review.
