Cristo es el medio y el fin

·3 min
This daily devotional episode from Solid Joys en Español features John Piper's teaching voiced by Nathan Diaz. It opens with a reading from Galatians 2:20 about being crucified with Christ. Piper then poses three fundamental questions about God's purpose in creating and governing the universe. He asks what God is accomplishing and whether Jesus is a means to that end or the end itself. The episode asserts that Jesus is the supreme revelation of God in human form. It states that the manifestation of God's glory is the reason for the universe's existence. Piper explains that while creation declares God's glory, Jesus was sent to remedy humanity's fall. Christ rescues sinners from destruction so they can see, savor, and reflect God's glory eternally. The teaching develops the idea that Jesus is the means for achieving God's purpose of revealing his glory. Yet in accomplishing this through the cross, Christ himself becomes the supreme revelation of God's love and justice. This moment represents the pinnacle of God's glory being revealed. Thus, in his perfect act as the means, Jesus becomes the end of God's purpose. Through dying for sinners and rising for their life, Christ becomes the central revelation of divine glory. The crucified Christ is therefore both means and end of God's cosmic plan. Without this work, the full revelation of God's glory for his people's joy would not occur. In that same work as means, Christ became the end who will be eternally worshiped. Believers will spend eternity seeing and savoring more of what Christ revealed when he became a curse for them. The episode concludes that Jesus is both the purpose for creation and the means that makes enjoying that purpose possible.
