Body in Freezer Exposes Deadly Love Triangle & Conspiracy

·43 min·3 clips
The freezer in Kenny's basement contains Shannon Graves' remains, including a tattoo on her foot.
The story opens with a frantic call about a dead body in a freezer. It then settles into the legal reality of the interview room, where a suspect can stay silent or stop talking at any moment, making every conversation feel like a race against time. In June 2017, the Youngstown Police Department gets a missing-adult report for Shannon Graves. Her family had last seen her around February, and the long silence made the June report feel far more serious than her earlier gaps in contact. Shannon had missed holidays with her family. She also missed her sister's birthday, and her sister and little brother mattered enough that the silence felt wrong in a way the family could not ignore. Officers go to her apartment and get no response at the door. With no contact there, the investigation shifts to Ohio food-card records tied to Shannon. Those records begin to connect Shannon to Katrina and Arturo. Police learn that all three welfare cards were used at the same location within seconds of one another, months after Shannon disappears. The timing points hard toward trouble. Interview footage adds another layer of unease as one investigator says Katrina is giving off a strange feeling and seems involved. The search then moves to the back of a house and down into the basement. There, officers find a deep freezer. Inside are black bags and an orange plastic bucket containing human remains. The remains are curled up, with part of a jawbone, part of a spine, and acid on the bones, and investigators describe the scene as depraved and unconscionable. A tattoo on the victim's foot identifies Shannon Graves. That identification changes the case from a missing-person investigation to a homicide. Investigators then learn that the homeowners knew Arturo, Katrina, and Shannon, and that Arturo had asked to bring the freezer over after saying his power was going to be turned off. Later, Jill Eschenbaum opens the freezer while making dinner and finds Shannon's body, while Detective Lambert and the rest of the case team work toward interviews and an abuse-of-corpse warrant before Shannon's brother, sister, and father confront the man responsible and ask for justice.
