How Important is Discernment Today?

May 30, 2024·1 hr 1 min·4 clips
He predicted the pandemic years before it happened — and he wasn't even saved.
Pastor Dennis Martin begins by asking how important discernment really is in the present day. He says the question matters because too many people are not using discernment at all. He moves into 1 Corinthians 12 and starts with the gifts, their diversities, and the same Spirit behind them. He stays on how those gifts work together. He says discernment matters in many different areas. He then turns to false apostles and deceitful workers. He says some people have hijacked titles that belong to real ministry. He warns that others transform themselves into apostles of Christ. He says that kind of disguise is nothing new. He points to Satan as the clearest example. He says the enemy can transform into an angel of light. He calls that camouflage. He says people can blend in while still coming to damage what they touch. He warns that they can enter churches and other places where people are. He says many believers are drawn to spiritual language, prophecy, and anything that sounds deep. He suggests that attraction can open the door to deception. He says spiritual deception is one of the greatest forms of deception. He keeps pressing the need to see more carefully. He widens the lesson beyond church life and into work and daily relationships. He closes in prayer and then urges listeners to share the teaching because people need this kind of warning.

As heard by us

A plainspoken warning about why discernment still matters.

This teaching treats discernment as a practical habit, not a church slogan. Pastor Dennis Martin works from 1 Corinthians 12 and brings the point down to ordinary life: titles can be borrowed, appearances can be polished, and spiritual deception can hide in plain sight.
