How To Scrabble Challenge Harbert Magazine, the Auburn University business school alumni quarterly | ROI Podcast™ ep. 505 | Law Smith @LawSmithWorks + Eric Readinger -

March 19, 2026·37 min·1 clip
A friend wants to write the host as a character in his movie instead of casting him as himself.
It opens in a blur. Law and Eric riff on a strange, rap-like cold open about swamp mud, beach air, keys, choppers, drugs, and the sort of Florida imagery that feels half improvised and half totally unhinged. After that, the real hangout begins. Law mentions a random text from Damien Alpazar about writing him as a character in a movie, and the two hosts immediately start joking about whether the Florida-man wrestling persona and the Suno-made walkout song are what made that idea land. They do not leave it polished. Instead they toss out punch-up, alt lines, and the kind of offhand help that only works because they are clearly willing to make the whole thing a little worse in a funny way. The conversation then slides into current-events exhaustion. They talk through misinformation, disinformation, and the fatigue of trying to verify anything when the volume keeps rising and the signal keeps getting buried. Grady Judd comes up. So does DeSantis, along with a general feeling that every headline is arriving at once and demanding too much attention. They joke about moving around the county and about how much time people must have to dig through the whole mess. The Epstein section gets especially absurd. A spoof that lets you interact with his Gmail becomes a running prop, and the hosts joke about searching the archive while pretending not to want what they might find. The tone stays skeptical. Even the darkest claims get treated like material for a sideways follow-up instead of a tidy conclusion. Eventually the episode lands on Scrabble. They compare the game to Hasbro’s version, check the letters, tiles, points, and board, and note that the timer is one of the few pieces that feels different. That turns into a small argument with a bigger joke attached. Law keeps leaning into the rules while Eric keeps leaning into Law, and the whole thing ends up feeling like a very funny way of saying the hosts have range. It closes with South Alabama pride, a Harvard joke, and one last burst of loose, competitive nonsense.

As heard by us

A board-game gripe turns into a messy, funny hangout with real bite.

Law Smith and Eric Readinger keep the episode moving with jokes and digressions, from a Florida-man wrestling character to a Suno AI walkout song, and the riffing stays loose without falling apart.
