Rev Joey Hight - There Is A Real God

January 1, 2026·55 min·5 clips
While scientists search for life on Mars, Rev Joey Hight declares there is a real God bigger than any problem.
The sermon opens in worship. After the podcast greeting and store note, the preacher walks into the sanctuary and says he will exhort until the Holy Ghost moves. That need leads the whole message. Revelation 19 gives him the text: a voice from the throne commands all God's servants to praise, both small and great. He does not polish the edge off it. Scripture turns quickly into warning. God, he says, still shakes the earth and still has the heavens under control. The stars become his witness. A falling light across the sky becomes proof, in his telling, that God holds creation up and can turn it loose. Then he faces the church. Headaches, backaches, dead worship, and missing praise are treated as symptoms of people who have forgotten who rules the room. He asks them to receive. Oil, communion, and the baptismal tank are not the first answer in this moment. Recognition and praise are. The rebuke gets close to the bone. He names repeated altar prayers over sin, lust, and an unsanctified eye, then points to what people feed themselves before church. Music is not neutral in his warning. A radio dial set to barroom and bedroom songs becomes the road that carries desire right into the house of God. The altar call is plain. With heads bowed, he tells the backslider to stop watching the room and bring the need to the throne room of grace. Deliverance is the goal. The last pressure is heaven and hell, with flesh, feelings, imagination, the mind, and fear of people standing between the listener and help.

As heard by us

An urgent revival sermon that presses praise, repentance, and spiritual correction from Revelation 19:5.

This sermon treats Revelation 19:5 as a blunt call to praise and does not soften the edge of that command. It ties worship to repentance and spiritual correction, with the speaker returning again and again to the idea that God still rules, still hears, and still calls people…
