RAM

April 10, 2026·26 min·2 clips
Richard Ellis explains why God didn't tell you to jump off the Grand Canyon and how to truly recognize His voice.
RAM begins with a blunt correction. Richard says hearing God's voice does not mean grabbing wild permission for a reckless jump into the Grand Canyon. Relationship comes first. Then he turns to Abraham, where the repeated answer, here I am, sounds less like a slogan and more like a man ready to listen, both to God and to his son. Isaac notices what is missing. He sees the fire and the wood, trusts his father, and asks the plain question hanging over the whole scene. Abraham answers that God will provide the lamb, and Richard lingers on the King James wording that nudges the listener toward the ram. The altar goes up. Isaac is bound. The knife is raised. Then the angel calls Abraham's name before the sacrifice goes any further. God stops the hand. Abraham looks up and sees the ram caught in the thicket, offered instead of his son. The place is named Jehovah Jireh, the Lord will provide. Richard brings the sermon back to sacrifice and to the weight of what God provides. He does not leave it in Abraham's story. By the end, he warns the congregation against treating the body and blood of Jesus as a light thing. Weakness, sickness, and early death become the hard edge of the warning. We remember because we forget, and God wants the whole life, all the time.

As heard by us

A direct talk on Abraham, the ram, Jehovah Jireh, and the cost of obedience.

Richard Ellis Talks frames Abraham's test of obedience with a simple computer analogy at the start, then settles into the familiar story of the ram in the thicket and Jehovah Jireh. The message is plain: God provides, and obedience can still cost something.
