Really Riley

S3 EP 53 : RR Rwind - Welcome To My ADHD Diagnosis

March 24, 2026·29 min·2 clips
Riley breaks down on the floor over missing headphones and realizes the panic is about losing control.
She opens on losing the black headphones. Marshall searches for them because he knows the hunt will send her into a spiral if she does it herself. He cannot find them. She says that is when she starts crying on the floor. She is rocking back and forth by then. What seems like a headphone crisis turns into the bigger truth that she is exhausted from feeling out of control in her own head. She says she has been trying to hold it together for Marshall, the kids, and her radio show. That pressure sends her back to weekly counseling. Her counselor is a trauma counselor. The work is day to day, talking things through and finding new coping mechanisms. She pauses to sort out the difference between a counselor, a psychologist, and a psychiatrist. She admits she is not fully versed in all of it. The psychiatrist, she says, prescribes medicine. The counselor suggests an ADHD initial screening. She describes it as a symptom checklist you tally up. Her score comes in around 32. That number lands hard enough to make the conversation feel suddenly real. From there, she keeps circling the same point: she wants help, and she is done carrying the whole thing alone. She tells listeners that if they need to find some answers, that is all she is after too. She asks everyone to take deep breaths. She says to go hug on her babies and her husband. She thanks listeners again and again for the kind messages in her DMs and comments. She keeps the conversation open for anyone who wants to reach out and pick her brain further. Then she signs off with the promise to talk on Friday with the fav five.
