REALIFE Conversations for Christian Coaches · Teresa McCloy

Ep. 357: Spirit, Soul, and Body: Building Intentional Rhythms with Julie Loy

October 22, 2025·36 min·2 clips
Going through a divorce with three kids and three jobs, Julie Loy felt God prompt her to create a spirit, soul, and body planner — an idea she initially thought made no sense.
A certified coach joins the conversation. Teresa and Erika welcome Julie Loy, whose work spans speech language pathology, coaching, and Heal Thy Living, which she calls both a ministry and a planner. The tone stays gentle, but it is not vague. Julie talks about the planner as a different kind of tool, one with freedom and flexibility inside a faith-based structure instead of ordinary planner pressure. Movement has a real place in it. Her accountability companions set up walk-and-talks twice a month, making room for connection, sharing, and accountability while their bodies are in motion. Simple, yes. Thin, no. The rhythm gives people a way to move, talk honestly, and let spiritual conversation happen without forcing it. Accountability sounds less like inspection here and more like companionship. Julie is not selling pressure as growth. She is describing a faithful rhythm where someone can say what they are doing and how they want to be held. Grace stays close to the center. She describes a visual grid where the desired place is high truth with high grace, alongside challenge and engagement. That balance keeps the planner from turning into another stack of shoulds or have-tos. Erika and Teresa keep drawing out the difference between pressure-driven planning and a faith-based approach that leaves room for freedom, flexibility, relationship, and ordinary life. Prayer frames the work too. Julie points to a prayer in the planner that thanks the Lord for loving someone enough not to leave them the same while still calling them onward. Teresa closes by naming the ordinary day as a place where an extraordinary moment can be found, especially with a tool that helps daily life become more intentional.
