The hosts explain why Sentenced to Be a Hero's 50-minute premiere won them over after a slow start.

1. Rant Café's Winter 2026 anime preview covers 14 shows, ordered by anticipation, from Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 to Roll Over and Die. 2. Hosts Recon, Jordan and Brigham split the work: Recon watched the premieres, while Jordan and Brigham say they have seen almost none and plan a separate episode on first impressions. 3. The central thread is that sequels such as Jujutsu Kaisen, Frieren, Hell's Paradise and Oshi no Ko dominate the season, while Sentenced to Be a Hero is the main new title. 4. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 comes first, with the hosts saying the movie introduces new characters and Jordan saying Season 2 "blew me away" in adaptation quality. 5. Frieren's second season is four days from release, and the hosts note it reportedly has only about 10 or 12 episodes, while praising the first season's "beautiful, gorgeous, touching episodes." 6. Sentenced to Be a Hero gets the longest segment: its roughly 50-minute premiere is described as "basically the length of like three episodes," and one host admits they "didn't give a fuck about nothing" until the characters and backstory developed. 7. Oshi no Ko Season 3 prompts a debate: one host defends the manga ending despite its "a lot of hate," while Recon found Season 2's focus on the stage play less appealing than the earlier mystery. 8. Fate/strange Fake generates the hot take that its first episode beat Sentenced to Be a Hero's, while the hosts explain that episode zero, "Whispers of Dawn," aired in 2003 and that the author also wrote Durarara and Baccano. 9. The hosts also cover Hell's Paradise, with MAPPA animation and a convict battle royale for an elixir, Fire Force's final part with over 300 manga chapters, Chained Soldier Season 2 after a studio change to Passione, and the watercolor-style death-game show Shibo Yugi. 10. Fans of seasonal anime who want a casual, opinionated rundown will enjoy this.
