Red for Revolution 4 - He Looked Beyond My Faults

February 25, 2025·29 min·2 clips
Ella challenges Dean McKenna's accusations that her politics make Columbia unsafe, exposing the school's hypocrisy.
A father names a fear. He never wanted to look like his own father at his worst, and now he has to admit he does. Ella does not let the explanation do the work for him. Lost jobs and going without may be beyond him, she says, but hitting someone is not. Then she asks the question everyone has been circling: did he ever raise a hand? The answer leaves no easy place to stand. The mother moves on quickly. She tells Ella not to spend too much worry on these men, because they cannot keep violence forever. It sounds brave for half a second, then tired. Less certainty than a way to survive what keeps coming back. Kathy gets tested next. Ella tries to teach her to focus, but Kathy does not believe target practice can really protect her from Joe. Leaving sounds simple from the outside. Ella asks why she stays, and Kathy gives back the lesson Ella taught her: people should not be abandoned. Ella has to put a wall around her own belief. Faith in someone cannot ask a person to spend herself down to nothing. Kathy still holds on. If the world can become less unjust and hateful someday, she thinks Joe might change sooner. Ella catches what has happened. Her big hope has been turned into permission for private endurance, and she has to pull those two things apart. Kathy chooses anyway. She believes Joe can be better, and she wants to see him through. The credits then make room for the music, performers, and Red for Revolution team, so the ending belongs to the whole group, not one voice.

As heard by us

A scored audio drama about inherited violence, stubborn faith, and the difference between fighting for someone and protecting yourself.

Red for Revolution 4 lets a family argument turn slowly toward the question of what people inherit: fear, tenderness, faith, and the violence they promise themselves they will never repeat.
