Radio Rental · Tenderfoot TV & Audacy

Episode 65

·37 min·3 clips
A homeless man screams 'I'm going to fucking kill you' after kids destroy his belongings.
A room gets to Terry first. He opens in full shopkeeper mode, but the bit keeps slipping because a room has shown up inside Radio Rental, and he had no idea it was there. Malachi tells him not to go in. Terry, naturally, treats the endless hallway like a terrible idea with great branding, comparing its pull to fidget spinners and Gangnam Style. The dread stays oddly retail, which is the fun of it. Terry keeps trying to sell the shop while the corridor sits there, long and blank, daring him to keep staring. Then the tape clicks on. The guest starts in August of 2001, just before a college study-abroad semester at a campus in Luxembourg. About 120 kids are expected. Before classes begin, the guest and a couple of buddies arrive three weeks early and travel through Italy and Greece. It all sounds almost too normal. They take trains north from Italy to Luxembourg, wiped out from a full day of travel and still expected to head straight to the Chateau. No scare jumps out yet. The memory stays with logistics, fatigue, and that parking-lot moment when cars pull in to pick up students. That is where the excerpt cuts. The tape is really about the slow setup: people, place, timing, and the uneasy feeling that something ordinary is being arranged for trouble. Terry's hallway bit keeps poking at the quiet. The episode runs on two kinds of unease at once: video-store nonsense outside the tape, plain witness memory inside it. Nothing gets tied up neatly. The clip lets a wrong room, a long trip, and a remembered arrival carry the tension.
