Are clouds actually evaporated oranges painted white? With Charlotte Cropper

September 3, 2025·49 min·20 clips
Radio Nonsense opens with Tiernan saying summer is over, while noting that elsewhere it may not be, and that he has been away in a summer that was busy rather than restful. Squirrel McFlurry's Spotify message gets things going by complaining that the episode is old and that a new one is overdue. Tiernan instantly spins that into a joke about McFlurries, furry tails, and chewy bad choices. He also jokes that he is not especially famous with humans, but is very famous with tardigrades. From there he wanders into the story of cleaning Comedy Club for Kids HQ with a hoover, which leads into the show's usual beautifully unhelpful logic. The episode then settles into a chat with Charlotte that treats absurd questions as though they deserve serious thought. Tiernan asks about lying on your side and whether it beats sitting and thinking. Charlotte says it is a 60/40 situation and explains that lying on her side gives her brain a pillow, or at least a bit of easing off, because her brain is so heavy with all the words, smells, and sounds she has gathered over her 27 million years of life. If she lies down too long, bits can come out of her ear, which Tiernan jokes about prodding back in with a stick, but Charlotte shuts that down and keeps the nonsense moving. A stray dog wanders into the story and simply says woof, which Charlotte finds rude, and Tiernan says he would still read the scene. Charlotte compares her memory to a self-deletion system, saying she forgets important things like what her legs are for or how cheese works. The chat then shifts to another listener message about bananas tasting bananary. Tiernan gives up on banana testing, announces banana geddon, warns that the bananas are coming, and dives for the wardrobe. Radio Nonsense ends in the panicked, cheerful chaos the show runs on.
