#114 AI PMs Will Take Over Your Job - Ofir Natan @PracticalAI

May 29, 2023·43 min·3 clips
Ofir Natan reveals how AI will make every product manager an AI product manager in the near future.
AI is moving fast. Christian and Alex set up the episode around Ophir Natan's AI talk in Berlin, which left them wanting a more useful follow-up. His background gives the conversation some weight: more than a decade in software engineering, then Chief Product Officer and Chief Technology Officer roles. The tone is practical. Instead of treating AI like a shiny trend, they keep coming back to what happens to product, design, coding, and support work when the tools get better. Christian puts the worry on the table. He names customer support, content creation, and coding as jobs that could shrink or disappear. Ophir does not wave that away, but he doubts the whole thing lands in one or two years. The harder part, in his view, is speed. People and companies will need to adjust before they feel ready. The conversation then turns to the roles that may grow around AI. The winners may be the people who know how to use these tools inside a real discipline, whether that is coding, product, or design. Ophir also expects companies to build new AI generated or AI powered products, not only automate old tasks. Education is his example. At an education technology AI conference from the Ministry of Education, he expected schools to be behind. Instead, he found teachers and students already using AI in lessons. A survey in Israel suggested almost 70% of students thought AI would help them more than harm them. Younger people seem to be moving quickly. By the end, the hosts treat the episode like a set of predictions worth checking again in a couple of months.

The piece frames AI less as a shiny product story and more as a labor shift with real fallout for support, content, and coding jobs. It works best when it stays close to how teams and roles inside companies are changing, and the pressure on Ophir Natan gives the discussion some…
