Ep. 5552: The real SOTU.

February 27, 2026·1 hr 30 min·7 clips
A software engineer reverse-engineering a DJI vacuum discovered he could access live feeds from thousands of homes.
Gratefulness comes first. The host opens with Colossians 3:17, a Mercy Me song, and a practical challenge: stop letting burdens own the whole room. The devotional lane is warm, but it does not linger. Filter words and actions through thanks, hand the weight to God, then get on with Friday. Politics arrives fast. A Florida attorney general becomes the example of a public official the host thinks is showing real nerve on gun rights. The praise is plain. He likes the push to defend concealed carry for 18-, 19-, and 20-year-olds, and he treats that fight as more than legal housekeeping. The Constitution carries moral force in this segment. The host points to language about protecting God-given rights of Floridians under the U.S. Constitution, then pauses on how rare that sounds from a state prosecutor. Another rights question follows. A Pennsylvania man, a felon-in-possession case, and the line between violent and nonviolent felony records turn into a restoration argument. For nonviolent felons, the host says the right to carry and be around guns should not be gone forever. The show keeps moving. Near the end, he parks a military-related story for later and turns to the United States Postal Service. That ruling gets under his skin. He thinks it is wrong that Americans cannot sue when mail is intentionally not delivered. The basic point is accountability: people pay for the service, so deliberate failure should have consequences. Then comes the real SOTU. Not ceremony. Debt, growing and waiting for Monday.

As heard by us

Gratitude, gun rights, and civic friction drive a brisk Friday hour.

Preston Scott begins on gratitude, anchoring the opening in Colossians 3:17 and MercyMe's "Overflowing" from "Wonder and Awe." The tone turns quickly from devotion to Florida gun rights, where Scott is plainly supportive of Attorney General James Uthmeier.
