'Invincible' Season 4, Episode 6: A Minor Setback

April 8, 2026·57 min·4 clips
With two months passed on the alien planet, Eve is likely pregnant and the hosts debate if the baby will survive.
Episode 501 starts loose. Banko introduces the sixth episode of Invincible's fourth season as the start of the Veltrumite War, then undercuts it almost immediately with a joke. So much for the solemn war footing. The panel is already moving at full speed: one guest has just landed from Mexico City, another is stuck on a hat riff, and the opening banter keeps veering off before the recap finds the road. That looseness is part of the charm. Once they get to Conquest's burial, the conversation turns into a mock trial over Nolan's judgment. Leaving that body intact sounds like a terrible idea to everyone at the table. Burn him, basically. They sit with Mark waking up dazed, bearded, and boxed in by three pillars, trying to decide whether the scene is Veltrumite ritual, Mark's panic, or both. Then the hand shows up. The room jumps from airplane-seat nerves to laughing disbelief, because the music and the reveal make it feel like Conquest might somehow be back again. Annoying. Effective, but annoying. The panel admits the fakeout got them, which is why the bit lands. They are not only tracking plot mechanics; they are reacting to the show wearing down its audience with a villain who refuses to stay dead. Bro, enough already. The Conquest thread gives them plenty to argue over: bodies, burial customs, and whether Nolan just made a fresh mess for everybody else. Nobody stays reverent for more than a minute. The episode keeps swerving into Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kessler, The Boys, and the scheduling problem that keeps the promised crossover coverage out of reach. Even the housekeeping catches strays. By the end, the panel is half closing the recap and half trying to dodge a reckless final joke before the screen freezes into chaos. The tone is rowdy, but the read is sharp. For listeners who like recap with the argument still attached, the fun is hearing every beat get turned into suspicion, complaint, memory, and sudden laughter.
