ANR Geekly 214 - Post Savageland Pre Order

September 26, 2025·1 hr 18 min·1 clip

I know what I'm expecting: a non-serious movie that won't have good writing. But Adam Sandler gives his friends jobs and I like the cameos.

A&R Geekly episode 214 features co-hosts Elvin and D discussing collectibles (Marvel Legends three-packs), entertainment releases, dad jokes, and recent movies. D shares temptation/resistance around being forced to buy unwanted She-Devil figure in Marvel three-pack bundle—waited for sold-out status. Kaiju No. 8 character figure design drove reconsideration of interest despite dismissal of character initially. World-famous dad joke ('Why couldn't the jalapeno practice archery?') gets begrudging laugh. Entertainment roundup includes Superman (third viewing despite mom's nap in recliner), Sinners (vampire/gangster film; D gave 9/10 despite initially being skeptical), Happy Gilmore 2 (Adam Sandler comedy; D praises cameo-heavy approach and friend-employment philosophy), Naked Gun (Pamela Anderson, Leslie Nielsen, 8.5/10), Rick and Morty mentioned. Upcoming releases: Badlands (Predator movie) and Alien Earth (show)—hosts skeptical both won't do well; Alien not connected to franchise canon. Discussion of theater experience superiority over streaming (recliners, heating). Adam Sandler movie appreciation centers on knowing expectations and enjoying cameos. Overall tone: casual geek culture gossip with humor and friendship.
