PodCastle 882: How to Steal the Plot Armor – PART TWO of TWO

·40 min·3 clips
Sir Barham's improvised ballad almost exposes their plot to steal the capstone right in front of the Shadow Lord.
Part two opens with ceremony. Matt Dovey sets up the conclusion of Luke Wildman's story, with Horace Monroe handling the narration and occasional song. The threat is already in motion. A castle should fall once its capstone comes free, but the narrator insists the people below will have time to run. Ser Barm pauses at the parapet. That pause lands hard, because the narrator worries the knight has worked out more than he was supposed to know. The stone comes loose. Everyone waits for walls to rumble, foundations to split, and the roof to start giving way. Nothing happens. Ser Barm shakes the capstone as if it might explain itself, while the narrator scrambles for an answer that will hold up under pressure. The problem is in the wording. A bad translation changed the spell's condition: the rune writing requires removal from the castle's premises, not just from the brackets. Garstia Dea catches on too quickly. Ser Barm, meanwhile, looks crushed by the chance that their enemies may still win. The fix is almost embarrassingly practical. Since a magical beast cannot carry the stone, someone has to haul it through a doorway. The narrator takes the weight. His speech to the younger knight turns the botched trick into a sober exchange about years, duty, and spending a life well. As heard by us

A capstone, a bad translation, and a spell that only breaks once the stone leaves the castle.

Part two and the conclusion of How to Steal the Plot Armour keeps the castle crisis tight: one capstone, one badly read rune, and Sage, Ser Barm, and Garstia Dea trapped inside a spell that only breaks if the stone leaves the castle's premises.
