Ep.448- Getting Into A Heated Battle With Steve Bowden!

·31 min·3 clips

Orbital Albert recounts a heated battle with Steve Bowden of Deep Root Pinball over a Pokemon Go raid.

Orbital Albert opens episode 448 by teasing a conflict with Steve Bowden, who works for Deep Root Pinball. He explains he was in Halifax for a sports card deal and a burger craving, not primarily for pinball. Albert digresses into his recent stock market experiences, including losses on BlackBerry and holdings in Cineplex. He mentions owning a FutureSpa pinball machine and plans to take a photo of it. The host then reviews playing Avengers pinball for the first time, noting its easy repeatable loop shot but challenging outlanes. He compares it to Rollercoaster Tycoon's loop shots, referencing Scott Denisey's discussion on another podcast. Albert talks about his Pinball Nerds podcast trading cards and gives shout-outs to other podcasters like Josh Mudd and the Poor Man's Pinball Tribe. He reflects on feeling isolated during COVID-19, not seeing friends for over a year. Albert discusses the low listenership of his edited 'nerdies' episode, which had 98 listens compared to his usual 150. He evaluates Avengers, preferring Jurassic Park for its sound and rules, and finds TMNT difficult but visually appealing. Albert reveals the 'heated battle' with Steve Bowden was actually a cooperative Pokemon Go raid, using his fired-up Pokemon. He concludes by noting other pinball podcasts are on break, but he will continue producing episodes.
