S2 Ep9 - Red Water

·37 min·2 clips
Axel finds that the red pool is water with high iron and manganese, then reaches a bath plug at the center.
The caravan clears the cephalid for the moment, and the air goes quiet after Rodrigo's leap buys them a little room. Sand kicks up behind the wagon, the sturges keep swarming, and the caravan pushes on. The silence does not last. Everyone feels the shift, because Rodrigo's death is now riding with them. The conversation settles on the same promise: they cannot slow down, they have to reach the Sanguine Pool, and the second key still matters. Marcus breaks the stillness with Rodrigo's name, and the caravan keeps moving anyway. The story then steps back to show how the group ended up running from the cephalid in the first place. An assassin attack hits Rehana, Hilroy, and Mikhail. Sonora and Glenn, Rodrigo, and several others from the caravan kill the Urshion without help from strangers. After that, the decision to head toward the Sanguine Pool starts to settle in. Not everyone likes it. Some people in the caravan support the route because they understand why the group is going. Others wonder whether any good can come from associating with the Tabaxi at all. Mal gets pulled into a conversation with Rehana and starts with an awkward introduction that lands exactly where actual play tends to land, somewhere between embarrassment and business. Rehana wants to know whether the plan at the Sanguine Pool is violence or diplomacy. Mal answers diplomacy, a plea for the help of the Tabaxi people, and the search for the secondary key to Kalamesh. The loop explanation follows. Mal says the group has been moving through time in an unusual loop, and the candle the Tabaxi people protect seems tied to the reset. Rehana hears that the candle has gone out twice, hears that a titan is attacking them, and the conversation shifts from suspicion into dread. The episode closes on the same mix it has carried all along: tactical urgency, grief, and a caravan full of people trying to stay useful while the road keeps asking for more.
