S2 Ep7 - Combat with a crustacean

·56 min·4 clips
The party finally layers ropes, spells, and flail damage until the Urshion goes down in a puff of sand.
Phantom Nirvana opens with a dark-themes warning and a hunt for a giant sand crab. Mal takes the first swing by pitching an explosive toward the hole while Marcus hands over Bardic inspiration with a Crab Rave whistle, and Rihanna stands atop a gorok long enough to give the signal before climbing down and letting the attack roll sort out the rest. Joshua Ames then goes after the crab's back end. His fancy spear is awkward in his hands, so the first stab misses, the follow-up flurry is clumsy, and only the third strike lands with enough force to matter. Sam Campbell keeps the pressure on with Yunogu's flail. A superiority die pushes the roll over the line, greenish viscera sprays out of the crab leg, and the flail sucks the mess back in as one of its heads starts glowing and promises extra damage next turn. Axel does not wait around. He transforms into a giant goat, which he treats as a perfectly reasonable response to a crustacean problem, and the table immediately debates size, challenge rating, and whether natural predator logic still counts. The battle stays noisy. Dice math, clarification, and banter keep tumbling over each other, but the scene still plays like a real fight where every choice changes what happens next. The party never fully lets go of the joke. That is why the crab anatomy and weaponry jokes keep landing without flattening the tension, even when the DM has to steer the mechanics back into place. The back half turns strange. A caravan appears again in the distance, and beyond it a huge wavering figure rises in the sky, jellyfish-like, with long tendrils and a bulbous body that starts descending toward the rock outcropping. Everyone looks up. The soundscape pivots from creature combat to eerie wonder in one beat, and the closing stretch lets that silhouette hang over the scene like a bad omen nobody can punch yet. The cast list rolls at the end. Credits name Reagan as Axel Johnson, Michael as Joshua Ames, Sam Campbell, Kevin as Marcus Burkhead, Yvette as Rihanna, Phil as the Dungeon Master, and Courtney as Mallory Reed, with music from Sagey Sun, Umbra Gypsy Vision, Gang Colors, and Turn Try. The scene ends with the giant crab, the glowing flail, and the jellyfish-shaped thing in the sky all hanging in the same unresolved, chaotic frame.
