S2 Ep2 - A Rough Introduction

·37 min·3 clips
Sam's flail suddenly glows green after absorbing fiery snake blood, whispering 'feed me'.
The escape goes sideways fast. The museum dumps the adventurers into a barren painted desert, and three fiery sand snakes rip up from below before anyone has time to settle in. Initiative hits, and the fight immediately gets strange. The table stops to ask whether a snake can be prone, decides some kind of shimmy probably counts, and slides the rules back into the story. Then Caxel eats the hit. A dirty twenty lands, burning teeth sink in, the tail follows, and the heat rolls through the body while the snake wraps around the camel. Kevin shifts into cleanup mode. Marcus runs in to cast Cure Wounds on Josh, getting seven hit points back after a quick distance check and the usual scramble over who is standing where. Mal knows exactly what she cares about. She aims Eldritch Blast at the creature attacking her camel friend, misses, and somehow the joke connects better than the spell. The camel bit keeps going because of course it does. The desert appeared, someone immediately chose camel, and a tactical animal choice turned into a running table laugh without knocking the fight off track. Sam Campbell keeps swinging too, with the glowing head of his three-headed flail still in the mix while everyone tracks which snake is beside which person, which camel, and which endangered friend. Later, the danger gets bigger. Screams and pandemonium rip through a caravan as a huge figure reaches for a candle and sweeps away a whole swath of people. Then the vision gives out. The creature's head shows a triangular crevice, everything goes black, and the party drops into the same inky darkness swallowing the world around them. Messy table magic, basically: damage math, healing, bad rolls, creature horror, and friend-group timing all colliding until the rough introduction feels dangerous and happily improvised.
