S2 Ep14 - Season Finale

·42 min·2 clips
Rehana says, 'Royal blood must burn,' then hands over her gem before the chamber erupts in fire.
1. Season 2, Episode 14 closes Phantom Nirvana with the caravan still fleeing through the desert and the Titan still closing in. 2. The group is heading for Kalamesh, hoping the stronghold will finally offer some peace. 3. A shuddering force runs through the body and blurs the vision for a moment before the Titan comes back into view. 4. Rehana turns on the Gorok and looks toward her homeland. 5. Kalamesh rises from the gray sand as a huge stone fortress, weathered by time and nature's elements but clearly built with care. 6. Rehana says she cannot quite remember whether she has seen it before, which gives the approach a half-haunted, half-familiar feel. 7. Inside, the fortress is empty, as if every Yontai has already gone to fight. 8. The party moves through storerooms, armories, barracks, and homes that still feel lived in by absence. 9. The air stinks badly, described like a hamster cage, and the overgrowth has swallowed the hanging plants and courtyard edges. 10. Rotted bougainvillea-like growth spills down the courtyards instead of the lush growth the place once had. 11. Tapestries still hang on the walls, but some are torn, destroyed, or painted over. 12. Rehana keeps walking deeper into the fortress as the past she has only heard about starts echoing in her head. 13. She finally reaches a lavish chamber with a high ceiling and a central pillar. 14. Under that pillar sits an ornate altar raised on an obsidian dais. 15. The room makes it plain that this space was built for the solemn ritual of burning a body. 16. The finale then cuts to Lucas and lets the tension turn strangely conversational. 17. He says it is a shame things were going well, praises Rehana for being brave, and brings in a bank joke that lands between a joke and a warning. 18. Lucas offers to get her back, but warns that she will not be the same. 19. The final instruction is brutal: Rehana has to die there while concentrating on the exact location where she left off with her friends. 20. The episode closes with the rule that she always has to start at the end, then rolls into cast and music credits.
