1. Peak Human - Unbiased Nutrition Info for Optimum Health, Fitness & Living centers Part 220 on Randy Johns, Rob Vasquez, and their carb-and-metabolism argument. 2. Brian Sanders hosts Dr. Randy Johns and Dr. Rob Vasquez, who describe themselves as the “happy, healthy guys” from Grapevine, Texas. 3. The episode asks whether carbs are actually the problem, or whether calories, food quality, and stress on the body matter more. 4. Rob says he entered the medical model through Texas Tech and the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio before migraines pushed him toward chiropractic care. 5. Rob describes a chiropractor explaining the nervous system and spinal alignment, then says his migraine headaches disappeared within about two weeks. 6. Randy says he was raised on the idea that every problem needed a drug, from antibiotics to cough syrup and Dimetap. 7. Randy recalls a Parker chiropractic student throwing away his antibiotics for strep throat and telling him to rest and get adjusted. 8. Randy says the strep throat cleared in two to three days, and he says that was the last medication he ever took in 1990. 9. Randy says his early nutrition experiments were built around calorie reduction, including low-fat eating and more vegetables. 10. Randy says he later ate six to seven meals a day, each with 30 to 40 grams of protein, while avoiding carbohydrates. 11. Randy says that pattern still left him with poor sleep, joint issues, and a body that looked good on the outside but did not feel good. 12. Randy says the turning point came when he was diagnosed in July 2010 with late-stage metastatic melanoma in his lymphatics, liver, and stomach. 13. Randy says doctors told him to get his affairs in order and offered chemotherapy, radiation, hospice care, and a drug trial. 14. Randy says he went to Spain instead of following that path and noticed people there ate later in the day and often only a couple of times daily. 15. Randy says that observation led him to stop snacking all day, eat when he was hungry, and eat until full. 16. Rob says Randy’s Spain experience eventually became a lesson in each body’s “innate wisdom” and seasonal needs. 17. Rob says he had also been eating no carb while eating six to ten times a day, and that pattern did not work for his body. 18. The episode has a conversational, personal interview style with repeated back-and-forth examples from both men. 19. People interested in real-food nutrition, metabolic health, and carb tolerance will likely follow this easily. 20. Listeners wanting a fast entertainment episode with no nutrition debate may skip it.
