“Legends Never Fade”

April 26, 2025·1 hr 4 min·5 clips
Old Skool Movements starts with the kind of breathless welcome that sounds like the room is already halfway into the joke. It presents itself as the podcast that makes you feel young again, and the panel leans hard into 80s memory. Twister season comes up. Summer comes up. Ice cream comes up, including the split between freezer-box treats and parlour scoops. The whole thing is treated like serious business, which is the point. Then the chat swings hard into Star Wars. The later trilogy is dismissed outright. The prequels get a separate nod for effects, but not much else. The room keeps circling back to what worked and what did not. There is some love for individual effects shots. There is not much love for the films as a whole. The conversation is especially annoyed by how the legacy characters were handled. Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, and Lando are all mentioned as part of a reunion that never really happened, because they were never put all in the same room. The Darth Vader talk keeps the same mix of awe and mockery. The first-movie build-up is remembered as strong, especially the outfit, the voice, and the scene where he stops a laser beam. After that, the promise seems to drift away. The end of the episode widens the net again. Batman gets a mention. Mad Max gets a mention. George Foreman gets a quick RIP. The closing stretch is loose, sleepy, and very much in keeping with the show’s group rhythm.

As heard by us

A noisy nostalgia session that lands hardest when the panel starts arguing.

Old School Movements keeps this episode in motion with a brash, fast-moving mix of twisters, ice cream, Star Wars, and old pop-culture heroes.
