A DNA database failure led directly to multiple murders.
As heard by us
A Jacksonville serial murder case turns on the consequences of a rape arrest that kept DNA out of the police database.
Obscura's second chapter on Paul DeRusso tracks the moment when a 2001 rape arrest might have tightened the case around him, then follows the cost of a deal that kept his DNA out of the police database.
Why you'd press play
You get a Jacksonville case where a missed DNA collection keeps Paul DeRusso's past dangerously out of reach.
