Draw.io saved me from Thunderbolt routing nightmare—and will save future me from repeating the mistakes.

Allison Sheridan recounts a full-house recarpeting project that forced complete studio and home network disassembly. She details obsessive planning: drawing UPS cable diagrams on iPad while lying on her stomach, photographing equipment connections, using Draw.io to map Thunderbolt device routing, and creating a spreadsheet-based DVD cabinet reorganization system. The project accidentally triggered a network upgrade when friends gifted $1,000+ worth of Eero Pro 7 equipment. Throughout, technical challenges—like CalDigit-OWC Thunderbolt port routing and Eero device registration—showcase home automation complexity and documentation solutions.
