The Morning Show with Ken & Friends! Apr. 9, '26 | Southwest Michigan's News & Talk podcast

April 9, 2026·1 hr·5 clips
Amelia bought a six-acre farm with a barn for $30,000 after neighbors said the House of David would never sell.
The room starts in motion. After the bookkeeping spot and the video live stream starts, the show settles into Thursday, April 9th with a laugh about Q1 already being gone. May gets a little airtime too. The studio banter turns local and personal before Ken brings in Amelia Briski, an area entrepreneur with several businesses already running. She has plenty to talk through. Blue Dress Barn, Sundance, Mill Creek Wild, and a new Millburg operation are all part of the conversation. Verde Pottery is the new piece. Amelia says she is still getting the setup ready and wants to know she can teach people properly before opening it to the public. The idea is simple and hands-on. She pictures groups of women and children, and maybe a couples night, coming into a small studio to make something themselves. Facebook gave her the nudge. One brief announcement drew more interest than she expected, which told her it was time to get the details in order. The practical side matters. She talks about a one-time fee for each visit, five people at a time, and the work of gathering wheels, tables, a kiln, and supplies. Pottery is not her background. Fine art, painting, restaurant design, and large murals are closer to it, especially from her time working in Chicago. One mural, she says, was about 40 feet long and 30 feet high for an early Panera Bread in Union Station. The segment stays neighborly. Ken asks plain listener questions, and Amelia answers with side stories that give the interview room to breathe. By the end, she is grateful and still talking. The hour closes with WSJM's eight o'clock handoff, after she says Southwest Michigan has given her a great life.
