299. Wake Up Dead Man VS Broadchurch; Sisu Road to Revenge VS My Dead Friend Zoe

·45 min·3 clips
Wake Up Dead Man opens with Benoit Blanc arriving late, after Ryan Johnson has built the church and the locked-room setup.
The room starts geographically, as usual. Tosin is in Bromsgrove, Sharon is on the Isle of Wight, Olly is in London, and the regular big screen or big stream question barely gets settled before the chat slides sideways. Olly has a fresh comparison: AI has apparently offered Rosamund Pike as a lookalike. That is exactly the sort of nonsense this show will stop for. There is colour talk, some doubt about AI being a little too generous, and the comfortable feeling that everyone joined halfway through a conversation. Broadchurch then gets dragged back into view. Sharon has not watched it, and Tosin admits he has kept away too, partly because heavy hype can make refusing feel like a point of honour. That gives the episode its useful bit: what happens when a beloved show has to stand up after the noise has died down? Grace Point is the weirder assignment. Tosin sends Olly to watch the American Broadchurch remake because David Tennant returning as an American version of the role is too odd to wave past. The fact it seems to have stopped after one season already feels like a review, even before the homework is done. Then the panel gets back to Sisu Road to Revenge. Sharon, after liking the first Sisu with Sean, lands on a simple verdict: more of the same. The sequel sits after the Second World War, around 1946, and uses that postwar backdrop for another run of blunt, forceful action. The chat stays loose enough to joke, correct itself, hand out viewing jobs, and still ask whether a sequel can get by on repeating a formula that worked. The close is housekeeping with a grin: like, subscribe, argue back, defend All's Fair if needed, and somehow even the goodbye turns into a bit.

As heard by us

A breezy compare-and-contrast chat that turns Broadchurch, Gracepoint, and Sisu Road to Revenge into easy company.

Netflix vs Cinema keeps its big-screen-versus-streaming frame, but the real value comes when it settles into a clean compare-and-contrast run through Broadchurch, then Gracepoint, before landing on Sisu Road to Revenge.
