Mystery is My Hobby: Tov Morelli, Bank Robber

·31 min·1 clip
Tove Morelli stages a daylight bank hold-up and kills three children before vanishing into a snowstorm.
The episode drops straight into a suspicion-heavy conversation. Mrs. Ross and her husband are worried about Morelli. They believe Morelli and his woman are giving medicine to young Jerry Haynes. They also think the pair are lying about being relatives of Eve Bodkin. That lie matters because the Rosses know Eve Bodkin’s people well, and Morelli does not fit the picture. The bank hold-up is already part of the background, along with the three innocent children who were shot. After hearing about that violence, the Rosses told Jerry what they suspected. He went up to Bodkin’s place. Not long after, they thought they heard a shot. Mrs. Ross wanted to go see what had happened, but she was talked out of it because that likely would have gotten her shot too. The inspector agrees that notifying the police was the right move. He also makes it clear that if Morelli realizes he is being watched, the situation could turn ugly fast. The Rosses say Morelli is ruthless and will do anything to save himself. They think he has no idea they are onto him. To him, they are just nosy country bumpkins. Even so, they know they cannot wait too long. Jerry may already be in danger. Mrs. Ross believes he is being kept in the barn. She says they would hear him if he were inside the house. The barn and the tool shed are the only places that make sense. Morelli’s refusal to let anyone near the barn only deepens the suspicion. The old snowplow adds one more practical clue. Once that detail comes out, the inspector stops hesitating. If Jerry is in that barn, the search has to happen tonight. The scene stays compact, tense, and accusatory. The mystery moves forward by one pointed question after another.
